Course Aims
The A2 and AS Level specifications aim to develop in students a high level of visual enquiry, an ability to explore creatively through the use of a wide variety of media and a maturity to form and develop personal ideas and then realise these ideas, displaying a high standard of creative and technical ability.
The course is designed to be a creative journey which each student develops to their full potential, enabling those interested to compile a portfolio for further studies in Art and Design.
Endorsed titles include:
• Fine Art
• Three dimensional design
• Textile design
• Photography - lens and light-based media
• Graphic communication
• Critical and contextual studies
Key features
Encourages personal, creative and imaginative approaches to art and design
Has a four-unit structure, maximising choice and flexibility
Has no forbidden endorsement combinations
Allows students to follow a broad, open course, or to specialise in one or more endorsed titles
All endorsements allow students to work with both traditional and new media
Students are allowed to work solely with new media within any endorsement
Choice and flexibility within endorsements
Provides an assessment structure with an accessible marking grid that is easy to apply and provides clear guidance right across the range of grades
Prepares students for higher levels of study in other art and design qualifications
