Art, Music and Drama
The school is committed to providing a broad range of opportunities within the performing arts such that those with real prowess may capitalize on their abilities, while allowing others to further their interest and enjoyment in these areas.
Both music and drama are taught throughout the Preparatory Department and Middle School, with the opportunity to pursue one or both to GCSE.
The musical life of the school, with two choirs, an orchestra, a rock workshop and our unique corps of drums, provides for a diverse array of interests and aptitudes. Frequent performances take place in local churches and venues and the carol service is held in the stunning surroundings of nearby Sherborne Abbey. The Drum Corps also plays at a number of local fetes and is planning to get into the Guinness book of records this year by performing in over 111 different venues within a week.
Instrumental and vocal tuition is also available at extra cost.
The dramatic life of the school with workshops, clubs, small and large scale productions, provides opportunities for all. Recent productions have included Bugsy, the Pirates of Penzance and Ernie's Incredible Illucinations.
Art has a high profile within the school. Examples of the high quality of the pupil's work are exhibited around the school. Again, outside of lesson time, clubs allow pupils to pursue their interest whatever their ability.
