Open Morning

Our next open mornings are Friday 4 May and Friday 29 June from 09:15 until 12:00. Families with pre-school aged children are warmly invited to bring their teddies along to our Pre-School Teddy Bears Picnic on Friday 25 May from 14:00 until 15:00.

Do give our Admissions Officer, Pam Brook, a call on 01935 852195 or email pamela.brook@chiltoncanteloschool.co.uk to book your place. Alternatively, Pam will be happy to arrange an individual visit for you to see for yourself just how much fun our youngest Chiltonians have at school!

In small classes the children will be able to create strong bonds with their teachers and peers, providing them with the security to confidently explore and discover the world of learning before them. Children at Chilton Pre-Prep will be able to make a memorable and engaging start to their school lives, instilling a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

In our happy nurturing environment the children benefit not only from sessions with specialist teachers, but also from the extensive grounds allowing for welly walks, nature rambles, wildlife observation, planting and gardening.

Pre-Prep

The Pre-Prep enables children to become part of the school’s close, family community from the earliest days in their educational journey. Our aim is to nurture, care for and develop the potential of each individual child, encouraging them to delight in discovery as well as in their own increasing knowledge.

The broad and exciting curriculum focuses on the development of key learning skills and interaction with real experiences, ensuring that children have the competencies and knowledge they need to succeed in their school careers. In our happy, nurturing environment the children benefit, not only from sessions with specialist teachers, but also from the extensive grounds at Chilton Cantelo, allowing for regular welly walks, nature rambles, wildlife observation and planting and gardening. Children in the Pre-Prep also have the opportunity to take part in forest school projects, providing positive outdoor experiences that encourage and inspire your child to reach their full potential. With a strong emphasis on the importance of real life experience, and hands-on learning, much of the pre-prep’s learning takes place outside, exploring the seasons and learning about our world as it changes before our very eyes. Children from Chilton Pre-Prep progress into the Prep School settled and prepared to succeed, continuing in a consistent and familiar environment as they move through their school career.

A strong emphasis on delivering the rudiments of literacy and numeracy, and ensuring that these skills are strong underpins all the learning in the Pre-Prep. Engaging lesson formats ensure that children not only develop these skills rapidly, but also that they love every element of their schooling. The children also have the opportunity to broaden their minds, and curriculum, with additional music lessons, language lessons, scientific experiments and PE/games.

Weekly letters to parents detail the activities of all the classes in the Pre-Prep, encouraging discussion about the past week and the week to come between parents and children to further extend the educational potential. The children’s progress is monitored and recorded in Learning Journey folders and staff are on hand to discuss developments and the tailoring of the learning to meet individual needs. With small classes, differentiation is key, and class teachers identify each child’s next steps and endeavour to offer all the opportunities to help each child make confident strides of progress.

At Chilton Cantelo Pre-Prep we understand that happy, nurtured children learn and develop to their full potential. Our friendly, family atmosphere offers each and every child a spring board to become the best that he or she could possibly be, and we firmly believe that providing children with the best possible educational start in life enables them to make the most of the future before them.
