Candidates applying for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 Academic, Sport or Music Scholarships
Academic Scholarship
Candidates for an Academic Scholarship are formally assessed by examinations in Maths, English and Science and attend formal interviews with the Head of Year and with the Headmaster (or over the telephone for overseas candidates).
Sports Scholarship
Candidates for a Sports Scholarship are assessed by our sports coaches. Candidates will also attend an interview with the Headmaster. Candidates must be competent in two sports and provide a written reference from their school and from their club coach.
Music Scholarship
Candidates for a Music Scholarship are assessed by our Director of Music. Candidates will also attend an interview with the Headmaster. Candidates are expected to be of at least Grade 3 standard in two instruments (or one instrument and voice) and will be required to perform two contrasting pieces of their own choice. They will also be required to sight read at a grade lower than the expected level. Applications should be supported by a reference from the candidate's music teacher confirming, where applicable to the candidate, which ensembles the candidate plays for, who the candidate plays with on a regular basis and where the candidate plays (if a soloist).
Candidates applying for Years 3, 4, 5, 6 (Prep) All Rounder Scholarships
Prep All Rounder Scholarship
Candidates for an All Rounder Scholarship in the Prep will be individually assessed over a two-day taster day with their current year group on a mutually convenient date during the spring term. The process is much less formal in the Prep School, where enthusiasm and raw talent are encouraged.

The School does not accept open references. However applicants may wish to supply other additional evidence or documentation in support of their application.
The award of a Scholarship is non-negotiable, valid for acceptance for 30 days and non-transferable. If, in any given year, it is deemed that the minimum standards of excellence for awarding a Scholarship has not been attained by any applicant, any or all of the Scholarships available in that year may remain dormant.
Once awarded Scholarships are conditional upon the recipient continuing to contribute fully to school life and maintaining high standards of performance.. The School reserves the right to withdraw a Scholarship if a pupil fails to maintain the standard of excellence which justified the initial award, or for any other significant reason, such as, for example, a major disciplinary offence being committed by the pupil.
